one day while we were minding our business and endlessly scrolling on Instagram, one of our favorite media brands, strong black lead by netflix, kicked down our door. low and behold, a love letter to our own hearts. on june 19, 2021—juneteenth to be exact—we were tagged in their first instagram guide: 10 black businesses you can support. can you believe it? little ‘ole us—She Got The Juice. the dope women behind strong black lead curated brands to support in honor of juneteenth. it’s the love for us. as a small black-owned, female founded business trying to make an impact our way, it was dope to be recognized by a brand whose goal is to celebrate the black community unapologetically.
strong black lead featured one of our favorite lapel pins—the ‘protect black women‘ lapel pin from the juice pack bundle which we released in 2020. this collection is special to us. it was created to honor the Black community. the pins and stickers within the collection serve as a reminder. it’s simple: Black lives matter—period.
not only did we make a statement in a bold way with this limited edition release, we continued to pour back into the community. 50% of all proceeds (and anticipated proceeds—there are a few left) were donated to a local nyc-based organization black women’s blueprint. so thank you strong black lead—for recognizing us in this way in helping us share this important message and also unknowingly helping to support black women’s blueprint whose very mission is to to secure social, political and economic equality for Black women in America.
