In part, this collection was inspired by a you had to be there moment with Missy, Aaliyah, Da Brat and Lil’ Kim on a shoot back in ‘99. The vibes were real—vastly unique women celebrating each other and being effortlessly comfortable in their own skin. There’s a moment when they discuss the word “bitch”—the perception, if there’s a negative connotation and how they define it. “You only think of us as a bitch when you’re intimidated,” Missy says while Kim makes it known that people use the word bitch “because they can’t find a word stronger than that.” Further to Kim’s point, “bitch is supreme,” respectfully. To us “bitch” is all empowering. A bitch is that “it” girl, about her business, capable of more than what meets the eye, and makes no apologies for being who she is.
